Public Health England have released the new UK healthy eating guide - the Eatwell Guide. The new model replaces the old eatwell plate and defines the Government’s current advice on healthy eating. It is a visual representation of how different foods contribute towards a healthy balanced diet. The new guide has been launched in response to recent Government updates in scientific evidence, particularly around sugars in the diet.
Here at PhunkyFoods the release of the Eatwell Guide could not be more timely. We will be launching our new PhunkyFoods programme and website after the Easter holidays on the 11th April. This will include all new updated curriculum and classroom support materials utilising the new Eatwell Guide. We will then offer a phased approach to updating all current school resources in your PhunkyFoods resource box to ensure full consistency of message with the Eatwell Guide by the new academic year (September 2017). It is really very important that we support all of our schools to start using the new Eatwell Guide to ensure children are hearing consistent messages; at school, at home and in the community.
We look forward to working with all of our schools to support the use of the new Eatwell Guide in educating children about healthy lifestyles.
