There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification and there are no age limits attached.
The purpose of the qualification is to provide anyone interested in the health and well-being of school-aged children with the knowledge that will enable them to provide evidence-based and up-to-date healthy eating information within this vulnerable age group.
This qualification is designed for teachers and teaching assistants/learning mentors, as well as catering staff and schools nurses, in schools. The qualification will enable adults working with school-aged children to improve their knowledge and awareness of healthy eating messages, in-line with current government recommendations.
There are four outcomes to this unit. The candidate will be able to:
It is recommended that 30 hours should be allocated for this unit. This may be on a full time or part time basis.
This qualification is delivered as a distance learning course and is supported by the Purely Nutrition Ltd workbook. The workbook contains the learning material covering the four learning outcomes, as well as worked examples and example assessment questions.
An email and telephone mentoring and support network has also been set up and is manned by Registered Nutritionists to assist learners with any queries whilst working through the learning material.
For this qualification candidates are required to complete one 1 hour multiple choice question paper under strict examination conditions.
Grading of assessment for this qualification is pass, credit or distinction.
Course fees are £195 per candidate and this includes the workbook(s), email and telephone support network, registration, examination and certification fees.
