We are so excited to introduce.... our brand-new PhunkyFoods Key Message!
We felt it was important to create this new content because fibre plays a vital role in our diet, and yet most people don’t consume the recommended daily amount.
Fibre is important to help food move efficiently through our digestive system and to help reduce the risk of serious diseases. It also helps us to feel fuller for longer, meaning we’re less likely to snack throughout the day.
Eating enough fibre is one of the simplest ways to support good digestion and long-term health—but it only works its magic when paired with plenty of fluids. As we add more fibre-rich foods like fruit, vegetables, beans, and wholegrains to our diets, drinking enough water helps the fibre do its job properly, keeping our digestive system moving and preventing constipation.
Our new content includes:
- an assembly, complete with a child-friendly script to enable pupils’ to deliver it themselves
- an ambassador topic handbook
- a parent information sheet
- pupil and parent workshops
All are packed with relevant information and practical ideas to help us eat more fibre. Click here to explore our new resources (add link).

As you can see from our recipes above, high-fibre ingredients such as beans, peas and lentils, are versatile and tasty. These recipes show how you can ‘add’ fibre-rich ingredients to your recipes. They are affordable, easy to store and with a long shelf life (because they commonly tinned, dried or frozen) and are much better for the planet than meat equivalents, as growing and processing beans produces far less greenhouse gas emissions.
Celebrate Whole Grains!
International Whole Grain Day is 19th November and a time to celebrate and fly the flag for all whole grain foods! Choosing whole grains such as brown bread, pasta and rice, instead of white varieties, has many health benefits, primarily because of the increased amount of fibre.
Now is the perfect time to take action and make a ‘swap’ from refined white bread to satisfying wholemeal!
Top. Add. Swap.
