Our Impact
The 2024/25 academic year was another fantastic year for the PhunkyFoods Programme across the UK. Outcomes - academic year 2024/25

The PhunkyFoods Programme has been operating for more than 20 years and has been widely implemented across UK primary schools. Our annual impact is grouped into school-level, pupil-level and community-level outcomes.
Impact on the school
95% of teachers report an increase in confidence in delivery of healthy lifestyle messaging after PhunkyFoods in-school training.
83% of schools reported that they deliver key healthy lifestyle messages to children more frequently since launching PhunkyFoods in school.
95% of schools report that the implementation of the PhunkyFoods Programme in school has had a positive impact on awareness and knowledge of healthy eating issues for their pupils.
- Children are able to talk more readily, and more confidently, about what a healthy balanced diet means
- Children demonstrate improved foundational knowledge of healthy lifesyle messaging in science and PSHE
Impact on pupils
37% of pupils report making changes to the way they eat since taking part in PhunkyFoods in school, and a further 24% of children report that they are thinking about making some changes to the way they eat.
42% of pupils report being more physically active since starting PhunkyFoods in school, and a further 15% would like to start being more physically active.
90% of schools report that the implementation of the PFP had had a positive impact on improving healthy eating behaviour of their pupils, for example:
- Higher uptake of hot school meals
- Healthier choices being made in the school canteen
- Healthier lunchboxes being brought into school
- Healthier snack choices being made
- Children drinking more water
- Increase in fruit and vegetable intakes at snack and lunch times
- Children are more willing to try new foods
Impact on Families & Community
Schools report stronger family involvement in healthy lifestyle conversations, facilitated through improved communications, and school-led parent and family sessions and activities.
- 73% of schools report engaging with their families through the PhunkyFoods Programme.
- 64% of schools report that the PhunkyFoods Programme has made it easier to engage with parents/carers around the healthy lifestyles agenda.
After attending one of our school family PhunkyFoods clubs with their child(ren):
- 75% of parents rated PhunkyFoods family sessions as ‘excellent’ and 24% rated them as ‘good’
- 90% of parents reported learning something new
- 79% of parents reported that they were either ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to change at least one thing about their family eating habits. Examples given included:
- Involving their child(ren) more with the cooking at home
- Eating more fruit/vegetables
- Change to wholemeal bread/pasta/rice
- Introducing new foods/having more variety
- Making more food “from scratch”
