Testimonials
We receive a huge amount of very positive feedback from our early years settings, primary schools and local council partners. Below is a very small selection of recent feedback;
“I just wanted to say what an impact you've had on my daughter and healthy eating and cooking! Anna is in Year 4 at Stainton School and has really enjoyed your sessions. As a result of your visits, the school has set up an after school phunky foods club and having missed out last year due to the popularity of it, this year Anna was determined to get a place, which thankfully she did!
She now comes home weekly with a delicious home-cooked dish and a great big smile of pride and excitement on her face. Woe beside us if we don't have it for tea THAT NIGHT!
Her relationship with food is very healthy - which is such a relief in the current fast food climate - and I'm sure you've had a massive influence on it. I'm also sure she's not the only child enthused by your input. The fact that phunky foods is THE club to be in right now says it all!
So thank you and well done! Keep up the good work - it's invaluable."
Morna Sims - Mum to Anna year 4 Stainton School.
"We recognised in Copeland that our schools have an important role to play when it comes to influencing healthy lifestyles of our children and families. By commissioning the PhunkyFoods Programme they are offered an inspirational package of support for pupils, parents and teachers. School staff have reported increased knowledge and improved confidence and are now able to deliver more healthy lifestyle messaging than ever before.”
- Georgina Ternent, Public Health Locality Manager.
“I have been running an after school healthy eating club for a couple of years now and find the Phunky Foods site invaluable. I ran the club initially by using the planning and cooking/tasting every third week but more recently have been cooking weekly. I am very lucky in that I have access to a full kitchen, which makes things much easier, but the recipes can be all be cooked in a small oven or in an electric pan.
We make sure we always cook a variety of sweet and savoury dishes and the children’s favourites include Chicken and Chickpea Curry, Chicken Sesame Noodles and Strawberry Cheesecake. This term we have also made Mini Meatballs and Autumn Apple Cake.
We always look at the nutritional information first and discuss the food groups and traffic light nutrition. We have learnt the correct cutting methods and the children use sharp knives very sensibly.
Thank you PhunkyFoods for making my life much easier with your fool proof recipes.”
- Karen Reynolds, Lakeside Primary. York.
“When I asked the children about highlights of the past year, PhunkyFoods and trying new foods was high on the list and mentioned by many children. They really enjoyed making and trying foods such as mackerel pate and it has helped them get better at eating a range of foods in school dinners. The children mentioned how they remembered the assemblies you did and talked about the healthy eating messages. We really appreciated you working with us to remind us of how enjoyable it is helping children prepare and eat a range of foods and move towards trying a greater range of healthier foods. It has been a huge hit with everyone and has brought key messages about diet and fitness which the children have held onto with great importance.”
- Sophie Heron, Calthwaite C of E Primary. Penrith.
“ The children of our school have both enjoyed and benefitted from the PhunkyFoods partnership. The PhunkyFood ambassadors have taken their role within school very seriously and have been excellent advocates in promoting the healthy eating and lifestyle message. The school children appreciate input from their peers and as a result the messages are given credence and increased validity when delivered by friends or older children.
Working as a member of a team; undertaking surveys; consulting with staff and friends; producing posters; presenting findings and promoting a ‘healthy life-style’ message in both class and assemblies has been invaluable experience for the Phunky Food ambassadors. Skills and confidence are gained which prepare them for future challenges both at school and in the world of work.
As a school we welcome the expertise of a specialist and our Phunky Food representative, Helena, has made eating healthily, fun and achievable.”
